the sticky mess
decopatch.
One of the crafting world's most recently adopted sweethearts. At least, as far as I've been aware. I've been aware of decopatch for a little over a year. And in that time, I've fallen head over heels in love with it.
The essence of decopatch is simple: you take an object. ANY object. You stick paper to it.
That's it.
But the results are so irrevocably satisfying that you'll start seeing potential projects everywhere. The danger of decopatch is that you can decorate pretty much any inanimate object: fabric, wood, glass, ceramic, plastic: it's all fair game.
Seriously. I have a friend who decopatched her hubcaps! And I've started eyeing up my dining room chairs....
So...on this page I will be sharing lists of the best suppliers of decopatch papers and glue, but also ideas of the best, most creative and innovative project ideas. I'll be scouring the web for things to show you.

what i'm working on
Actually I've not decopatched anything for ages.
I have this half-finished photo frame that I started a while back. I'm quite proud of it, actually. Once the back is fully 'patched, it'll be ready to sell.
Though I do have a whole box full of stuff for decopatching - so watch this space!! Hopefully some more interesting projects will follow....

my favourite sticky stockistsHere's a few of my favourite places for buying Decopatch papers, glue, brushes and things to 'patch:
Remember my friend who Decopatched her hubcaps?! Check out her shop, Treasured Forever for a fabulous range of supplies, and some helpful hints and tips. The Decopatch Place also sells paper, glue and brushes, alongside a selection of pulpboard items to get your project collection started. But you needn't look far for inspiration...most charity shops, and even your own home, will be packed to the gills with things just waiting to be 'patched. Check out my funky lamps in the gallery below...bought originally as a pair for a bargain in my local charity shop. The coasters? Originally plain glass, from Wilko. I even Decopatched some of my own beads and made a funky necklace! The world is your oyster....go 'patch it! |
my favourite blogs/websitesI've not managed to find any blogs dedicated solely to Decopatch, but I've stumbled across a couple of folks who show off the odd project.
Check out the inspirational Poppyposts, written by a woman whose creative talent is her weapon against depression...and she 'patches a mean set of drawers! Mum of all trades took on the mammoth project of decopatching an entire, full-sized chest of drawers - and it looks awesome!! Must be something about drawers and Decopatch.... I'll keep scouring t'internet for interesting-looking projects to inspire us all....there's loads out there!! |
